This page will assist you in understanding the water, drainage, and waste disposal charges on your EPCOR bill. Additional information is also available on the interactive bill for Edmonton customers.
Water Charges
1. Basic monthly service charge – This service charge is based on the size of the water meter you have installed in your home.
2. Actual meter reading – The water meter reading obtained on the date shown. Residential water meters are read every month.
3. Estimated meter reading – The estimated amount of water used based on historical consumption patterns (number of months).
4. Amount of water used – The difference between the actual and estimated reading, in cubic metres. (One cubic metre = 1000 litres)
5. Cost of water used – The cost of water used based on a charge per cubic metre for the first 60 cubic metres used, and a charge for all consumption over that. The average Edmonton family uses 20 cubic metres of water per month.
6. Total water charges - The combined total of all the above charges.
Drainage Charges
EPCOR bills all drainage charges on behalf of the City of Edmonton. These charges covers the costs to collect, treat, and dispose of sewage and drainage.
1. Basic monthly service charge – The basic monthly service charges cover sewer upgrading costs.
2. Sewage charges – Sewer charges cover costs to treat sewage, calculated based on water consumption.
3. Land Drainage charges - Land drainage charges cover costs for the collection and disposal of stormwater, billed on behalf of the City of Edmonton.
4. Your Total charges - The combined total of all the above charges.
Waste Services Charges
EPCOR bills the monthly waste services fee on behalf of the City of Edmonton, which supports garbage and recycling collection, Eco Stations, Big Bin events, recycling depots, and the environmentally responsible processing operations at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre.
