2008 Performance Targets
In April 2001, Edmonton City Council passing a bylaw to allow a new way of setting water rates called Performance Based Rates (PBR). PBR encourages EPCOR to further increase internal efficiencies while still keeping rates stable. Please note that sewer rates are set by the City of Edmonton Drainage Department and are not part of the PBR process. The PBR method differs from the previous method of setting water rates in two ways.
- there is a limit on the water rate increases for five years and it would be at a rate less than inflation
- if EPCOR does not meet preset performance standards in the areas of customer service, water quality, reliability, environment, and safety, then EPCOR will be financially penalized.
EPCOR met its audited performance targets for 2002-2008.

** In accordance with Schedule 3.1 Section 3.0 Water System Service Quality of Waterworks Bylaw No. 12585, there is no water system quality penalty to be assessed as the points earned as the points earned are above 100.
