Okotoks Wastewater Treatment Plant

Okotoks has partnered with EPCOR to design, build, operate and maintain the Town's water and sewer utilities for 20 years.

The first major project was an $11.2 million upgrade of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) completed in Fall 2006. This upgrade will allow the Town to grow from its present population of 15,000 to its desired build out population of 30,000.

Project Facts
  • Construction of the 24.5 ML/day tertiary WWTP plant ran from June 2005 until October 2006.
  • It has a biological nutrient removal process
  • It uses Ultraviolet (UV) light disinfection
  • The biosolids are composted
  • The effluent is discharged to Sheep River
