Strathmore
EPCOR constructed a new mechanical wastewater treatment facility and has a 20-year guaranteed-performance operating contract for the water, wastewater, storm sewers, and irrigation systems.
Community Update
July 31, 2009 - Thank you for your patience during the taste and odour situation in Strathmore. It is related to the growth of algae in the raw water reservoir and in the WID canal supply system. The algae release compounds that are not harmful to human health but can be detected by the human nose at extremely low levels. The taste and odour is expected to decrease when the weather gets cooler thereby reducing algal bloom growth. Taste and odour from algae growth will be permanently eliminated from our tap water when Strathmore ties into the City of Calgary water line. EPCOR will continue to closely monitor and test the treated drinking water to ensure that is remains safe to consume. Click here for more Questions & Answers.
