REFLECTING OUR PRIORITIES:  EPCOR’s 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report

“This is EPCOR’s first Corporate Responsibility Report and we welcome the opportunity to communicate clearly and openly about our economic, environmental and social impacts. We have gathered comprehensive data and reports from across our operations to give readers a clear understanding of where we stand as a corporate citizen.”
        - EPCOR President & CEO Don Lowry

Read about EPCOR’s challenges in water and wastewater treatment and the effectiveness of operating a water utility under a performance-based regulation or contract. How does EPCOR’s customer service and safety record compare with other Canadian utilities?  What were EPCOR’s greenhouse gas emissions — and what was done to reduce them?  How does EPCOR impact land and biodiversity? How much does EPCOR give back to the communities where it operates?

EPCOR’s Corporate Responsibility Report answers these and many others questions and provides detailed performance indicators in all key areas of operation.

In this report, use of the present and future tenses, except as otherwise noted, refers to EPCOR, its operations, strategies and plans as they existed on December 31, 2008. This report provides a snapshot of EPCOR, its operating companies, strategies and environmental, social and financial impacts as of December 31, 2008.

On July 1, 2009, EPCOR restructured and sold its generation business. EPCOR became focused exclusively on water, wastewater, distribution and transmission of electricity, energy services and transportation services. A new entity, called Capital Power Corporation, became focused exclusively on power generation, including building and operating power plants.
