Corporate Responsibility Report
About the report
EPCOR’s 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report looks at the impacts the company has on the environment, customers, suppliers, employees, communities and other stakeholders. It represents the beginning of a search for methods of improving our non-financial reporting to meet changing expectations or corporate accountability, responsibility and sustainability.
- The report follows guidelines defined in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an internationally recognized standard for corporate responsibility reporting, The GRI guidelines set out the principles and indicators that organizations can use to measure and report their environmental, economic and social performance.
- We are proud to have achieved an A+ level of reporting under the GRI guidelines. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP provided the external assurance and checked to ensure that we met the A+ criteria.
- Although EPCOR was restructured into two independent companies on July 1, 2009 with Capital Power focusing exclusively on power generation, we felt it important that our stakeholders be able to see a full picture of how we performed in 2008 in both our power, water and wires operations in Canada and the U.S. EPCOR plans to continue reporting on its corporate responsibility perspectives on an annual basis.
