Clean water Technologies

For more than 10 years, EPCOR's people have provided western Canadians with safe, clean drinking water.

Today, they continue their quest to find and apply the newest technologies that improve water quality and service.

Read more about how EPCOR applies the newest technology
  • EPCOR is helping to end a century of heavy metal pollution flowing from British Columbia's historic Britannia Mine. In its first year the water treatment plant removed in excess of 250,000 kg of heavy metal from run-off bound for Howe Sound.
  • Remote monitoring allows operators to receive real-time data on water and waste water systems via a secure network. The system is ideal for small, rural communities without full-time qualified staff.
  • EPCOR utilizes UV disinfection - a safe and environmentally sound process that uses intense beams of ultraviolet light to inactivate protozoa, bacteria and viruses.
  • Unidirectional flushing uses less water, and therefore less energy, and more effectively removes more mineral and biological deposits in water distribution lines than traditional flushing methods.

Water quality reports

EPCOR provides a number of Edmonton drinking water quality reports to meet the needs of government, business, and the general public.

  • Daily Water Quality Report - Seven parameters of interest to industries that use water in their production process.
  • Monthly Water Quality Summary Report - Summary of parameters that are of interest to residential and commercial customers. Includes year-to-date bacteriological results summary from the treated water and distribution system.  The bacteriological data is useful for other laboratories and regulators.
  • Monthly Waterworks Report - Full detailed monthly operations and quality assurance reports useful for regulators or laboratories.
