EPCOR is proposing to build the Poundmaker Substation in west Edmonton, at approximately 105 Avenue and 190 Street, east of Anthony Henday Drive, in order to meet the increasing electricity demands in the area due to residential and industrial growth. This new substation would be located on the same property as EPCOR’s existing west Edmonton distribution station.
The new substation would take the electricity from the existing high voltage transmission line, transform it to medium voltage and distribute it to homes and businesses in northwest Edmonton improving capacity, quality and reliability of electrical supply to the entire region.
