EPCOR is proposing to upgrade approximately 12 km of existing single wire transmission line (904L Line) in west Edmonton to improve the efficiency of power delivery and to provide more electrical system stability.
Reinforcement is needed to relieve constraints on the existing transmission system to maintain reliable service to the City of Edmonton and surrounding area and to serve increasing electrical power demand.
In June 2010, EPCOR will file an application with the Alberta Utilities Commission, which regulates the utility industry, requesting approval of the proposed alterations.
Location
The 12 km stretch of EPCOR’s transmission line runs from AltaLink’s line near 23 Avenue and 190 Street north along Anthony Henday Drive, then east to the Jasper substation on 172 Street and 105 Avenue.
